A kirana store sells five hundred things to two hundred people a day, half of them on udhaar, with a queue at six in the evening. The software has to be faster than a notebook, or the notebook wins.
What a kirana needs
- A bill in seconds. Tap the item or scan the pack; the bill is ready before the customer has taken out their phone.
- Loose items by weight. Sugar, dal, rice: type 1.250 and the rate does the rest.
- Udhaar kept honestly. Every credit bill goes to the customer's account; what each family owes, and since when, is one screen.
- Stock that orders itself. Fall below the level you set and the item is on the order list, with the supplier it last came from.
- MRP respected. A bill never goes above the printed MRP, whoever is at the counter.
How DukanData does it
At the counter. Touch tiles for the fast movers, a search box and a barcode scanner for the rest. Hold a bill while a customer fetches one more thing. Take cash, UPI — a QR on the screen — or put it on the account. The thermal slip prints, the drawer opens.
Udhaar. The outstanding screen lists who owes what, oldest first. A receipt clears the oldest bills. A reminder goes on WhatsApp in one tap, in your own words.
Purchases. Enter the supplier's bill as it is printed: type the amount and the rate works itself out. The profit you can expect on that bill is shown before you save it.
The evening. Count the drawer, close the day, and the report is on your WhatsApp: sales, cash, UPI, udhaar collected, expenses.
When the internet goes
The counter app for Windows keeps billing. Bills are numbered and printed as usual and reach the shop when the internet is back.
Getting started
Send us your item list from Excel or your old software. A person at DukanData brings it in with you on the first call, with opening stock and what each customer owes. You bill the same day.
